OFFICIAL GERSTNER AGE OF CHEST CERTIFICATE PROCEDURE
FOR ESTIMATING DATE OF PRODUCTION
OF OLDER GERSTNER TOOL CHESTS

  1. Send in (or email - no larger than 800 pixels one side) close-up photos of the following views of the tool chest. email to: ageofchest@gerstnerusa.com (you will need to arrange payment via phone). Allow 3 - 4 weeks for your order to be processed please.
  1. Frontal view with chest in fully closed position.
  2. Frontal view with chest in open position (front lid stowed beneath bottom drawer)
  3. Frontal view showing close-up of center lock with right or left hand front catch showing in same picture.
  4. Rear view showing close-up of hinge design.
  5. View showing side handle or top handle
  6. View showing entire end (left or right side) of chest.
  7. Top down shot of any drawer in half-open position.
  8. Frontal view showing close-up picture of Gerstner Nametag (if missing still take picture) located on the center of the bottom drawer.
  1. Write down all information that is stamped or lettered on the inside bottom of the tool chest (access to the inside bottom is by removing the long drawers and pulling the front lid forward)
  2. List the exact measurements of the chest by length, width and height. We need the inside measurements of any drawer with sides made of metal (typically a tall skinny drawer in the middle of the chest). We also need the number stamped on the lock.
  3. Provide any information you may already know about the tool chest and its history (i.e. belonged to my grandfather who was born in 1914, or original price).
  4. Send all photos and information plus the overall dimensions of the tool chest and a check for $50.00 to:

    We will examine the information you provide and send a signed certificate with either the exact year or a ten-year period in which your tool chest was produced. Please make sure to include a daytime phone number or an email address in case we have questions. Please note that missing or incomplete information will delay your certificate. Please list the exact name you wish to have on the certificate. If a name is not specified, we will use the one given with the order. If the certificate needs to be re-done in another name, the original needs to be returned and the new certificate will be an additional $20.

    If we cannot determine the age of your chest we will refund your money, but the photographs you send in will be kept at H. Gerstner & Sons to help build a file on historical data. All photos mailed in are kept for the historical files.
